There are 3 case studies in the Adoptee Voices report: Mary, Sally, and David. Their names have been changed to protect their anonymity.
Mary
Mary was born in a Magdalene Laundry, Denny House, in Donnybrook Dublin. She was adopted through the ‘Protestant Adoption Society’, now known as ‘PACT’.
Sally was adopted from a Mother and Baby Home in Westmeath. Tragically, Sally had what may have been a preventable genetic stroke, something which continues to impact her life today.
David was born in a Mother and Baby Home that fell outside of the remit of the Commission, due to the Commission only investigating a limited number of Mother and Baby and County Homes, and not examining the issue of adoption in Ireland as a whole.
